Default Quick trip from NSW south into Vic Australia

So i don't get much time for any long trips , that is longer than 1 tank full ,220klms.

My brother in law was coming up from Melbourne for a long week end (Australia day )to stay with his Mum ( my mother inlaw , do keep up lol)

He has a Yamaha r6 2008 (won't hold that against him , haha)
so he was leaving Melbourne sunday morning and heading up on any road but the Hume freeway. He went through Healseville , marysville on to Alexander a few little towns then bonnie doon and on to Mansfeild.

I ' on the other hand would leave Albury travelling south , again no freeways.

So i spent time mounting my tomtom and a charging unit with an isolator switch and fuse , but decided to use google maps as well.

Off i set , head thru Wodonga , out to Yackandanda (for those who care , the movie strange bedfellows [the original that adam sandler coppied to create i now pronounce you chuck and larry]was shot there ) and onto Myrtleford. just a piece of useless info.

My mistake was using the maps , i headed south out of Myrtleford to Lake buffalo at the foot of Mount buffalo (duh). 30 klms along the road turns to dirt , awhhhhh shit. Stuff it im not stuffing a tyre for no-one , so i turned around back to Myrtleford , but had to take a few shots.

My 2nd favorite shot

so i returned to Myrtleford and headed over west then turned south through to milawa , oxley , moyhu , edi , king valley( this area is wonderful wine country )and on to whitfield.
I tacked onto a couple of guys on touring BMW's , quite suprising that they cruised around 130 kph.

From whitfield and up the mountain roads to Mansfield , and that was bloody awesome , except for the area where 20 harley riders ( fags , southpark style) came down the mountain and 1 on my side of the road scraping his pegs to get it over , hahaha.

down to Mansfield where i met my brother in law. Had a quick bite to eat and set off home. An older fellow pulled up in his toyota truck and ran over and looked all over my bike , he asked whats it like, hows it go. Funny without being rude , didnt take a second look at the R6 (sorry Wayne).
continues to ask where we are from and where we're heading.
then aptly calls to mountain road we're heading to the "DEATH ROAD".
Gee thanks for that we both remarked.

on the way home we stopped at powers lookout for some more shots.

brother in laws R6 , note the gilles bling , oh to be rich ...hahaha.
he is also a friend of a member here too , the infamous electrical guru Eclipze. G'day Tony if your reading this, don't tell him my remarks on the R6 ??

All in all i had a brilliant day and loved every minute of it ,travelled 500klms. cant wait to go again. I will post more pics from the brother inlaws camera.
he passed thru the areas where the devastating fires hit victoria 12 months ago and got a few shots too , amazing how bare it still is , a solemn reminder of the poor people who lost their loved ones and wordly possessions .

Cheers Tim

Nice pics Tim, that Whitfield/Mansfield run is fun, we did that the day [FLUX] led us on a merry ride. One of the girls I ride with has an 08 R6, ah, you can pick your friends but not your riding family. I've got a mate who was born 'n' bred in Yack, amazing the number of people who have NEVER heard of it.

yeah i have to admit that running that stretch of road (whitfield/mansfield) twice in one day was awesome , and wanting more.

i did a rat ride the saturday before (36º in leathers) and went south towards Mt Beauty and turned right at tawonga south to head to Bright over the mountains. That was great , approx 20 bikes ranging from the leaders rocket 3 , bonnies . tigers and a couple of new thunderbirds and 1 other 675 . Yet again chasing a rocket thru the mountains watching it scrape the pegs was fun. We ended up back at Yack for a nice meal at the Star hotel.

i like the mild weather here , summer its high 30º C into the 40ºC mark and thats too hot to ride in leather . Oct and nov are mild and seeing we are getting stuff all rain at the moment march thru april is still pretty good. Iam glad we dont get snow here where i am.
