Default 07 Daytona to be 07 Street Triple - transformation to follow

I just bought a wrecked 2007 675 Daytona. It was rear-ended and totaled by the insurance company. I just bought it today, and it will be here on Wednesday. Then I'll snap some pics, and link them to this thread.

As it looks, the rear rim is bent, so that needs to be replaced. Then the rear subframe broke, so I need one of those. The rear seat fairing is busted, so that I need to find as well. The fairings are scratched, so they are coming off. The brake master cylinder for the front brakes is busted, so I need that...then the ignition is there with a key, but some idiot cut the wires to it. So I'll probably replace that as well. The frame is straight, forks are good and straight, the swingarm is good!!!! So this will be a perfect winter project....put together my very own Street Triple :D

The good thing is that the Daytona has a couple of "better" components than the Street Triple. I can not wait to get going on this project. My fingers are itching!!!!!

The tank got some scratches on it when it was laid down, so I'll repaint that. Good thing is, i have painted several cars, and I have the equipment to paint it in my garage. Now I am just looking for ideas for a paint scheme. British racing green comes to mind Suggestions? I have access to an airbrush gun as well, and I was thinking of maybe a dark anthracite grey, with airbrushed rivets and seems, making it look like for an example the tank, is riveted together in several pieces. Who knows....one thing's fo sho....I am EXCITED!!!!!!!

:) Seems like the interesting thing to do with wrecked bikes. You might want to swap stories with a couple of guys who have done a similar thing.

The left side electrics are going to be a nightmare to hide away by the way, so that might be something to look at early on in your plans. Post up pics when you get a chance :)

Tht's what I figured after looking at the wiring. With all the fuses behind the fairing. But I've re-wired an entire car, so it can't be all that bad. Once she's in my garage, I'll snap a bunch of pics and upload them.

BTW, any leads (besides ebay) on good recyclers? Parts sources? That has Triumph bikes? I know Argocycles in Nashua usually has a good selection of bikes and parts....I've been there a couple of times.....but they're east coast, and I am in Cali. I'd prefer to find used, versus paying the premium for new from the dealer.

Tips/suggestions on what to look for? Possible issues?

Since I will need to replace the rear wheel, I started looking for one. But by the sounds of it, I am not alone in my search. So I started considering other options.....what other wheels would fit on the 675? Does the TT, S4, or early Daytona rims fit? It seems like it is easier to find those rims. Anybody know??

Here we go....she's in my garage now. Pretty crappy pics.....I got home late, but I'll get some better ones later.

This is one of the colors I am considering.....

Looks like an easy project. I can't believe insurance totalled that. Of course, California shop rates don't help.

I was thinking of doing the same aircraft looking scheme on track day bodywork. I don't have the bodywork, yet. So, get after it. It should look cool.

And, you should be excited. The 675 is the most enjoyable bike I've worked on. Everything's straight forward on it. No tricks needed.

Yeah, it is still standing, put some air in that tire and take it for a spin to see if it rides straight
