It's a little bit complicated. Is the PCV needed? No. Are there some situations where you would want it? Yes. The PCV makes cleaning up the fuel mapping a little bit easier, since you can do it on the fly, instead of having to stop and flash the ECU with TRACS every time you want to make a change.
I have a kit ECU with a Bazzaz unit with a map switch and auto tune. -Which works great- I use a trac software for RPM adjustment only pretty much, and the Bazzaz for a race fuel map, a pump gas map, along with the auto tune, which is easier and more precise than continuing maps on the dyno, which don't pick up on the small throttle adjustments, and it works great that you will have one riding on the track.
