Earlier this year, I picked up a 2010 ST3 with 2500 miles from a semi local dealership.

Fast forward to today, I've been having all kinds of problems with the bike.

I know it's not Triumph's fault. I think the owner before me wrecked the bike or something.

First I seen I was having fueling issues, which turned out to be that the spark plugs were bad. How is this possible with a bike with only 2500 miles on it?

Then, the bike wouldn't start. A wire was loose in the harness, and a ambient pressure sensor was bad. So now that the bike is STILL at the dealership getting it's kinks worked out, and a dyno tune, hopefully she will come back a new machine!

Here are a few pics:

Bringing her home from the dealership:

Stopped by a friends house to hang out, and the huge undertail was gone before I even made it home.

Then the next day, I added a Motodynamic taillight, and a Dart Manta flyscreen, and removed the mirrors.

After new Q3's, took it on a Deal's Gap run. This is where the problems began to surface.

On the way to a local bike night:

Then I added a Ohlins shock, CF bits like heel guards and hugger (not installed yet), and a quick shifter.

Also added was TechSpec grip.

Everyone knows that Arrow quit making the dual slip ons for that model. After calling LOTS of dealerships, I found a set sitting on a guys shelf. Talk about lucky.

I installed the exhaust and then the no start happened. So the bike is on the way to the stealership.

Since the bike has been at the dealership, a Sargent seat and STM slipper clutch has came in waiting to be installed.

I'll give more updates once I know more, and hopefully have the bike back soon to actually ride the darn thing.

It just has the Arrow slip-ons and a KN filter.

Also I haven't installed the block off plates I have (don't know if it will help or not), and I'm seriously ordering Daytona cams ASAP. How long it takes before I have the time to install them, and get another tune is a different story.

A custom dyno tune. My local Ducati/Triumph/Vespa dealership does a great job with it.

After I get the cams, I'll go back again. Before this tune it was 98 hp afterwards 103.

I work offshore and I'm gone until the 18th. Once I'm in, I'll post the sheet.

I can also pull the map with tuneECU and post it if you guys want.

I called Power commander today and was informed by them that I would be able to have my bike dyno tuned with the PCV installed, since I plan on putting on a K&N air filter and a SC Project slip-on on the bike, I should be able to get similar rwhp as you. 103+ at the wheel would be nice. 225 you mentioned that you would be putting Daytona cams on your bike, have you found out how much hp you would gain and do you know what the cost would be for that kind of work? Anyway keep us posted on that mod, really interested to see how that works out for you. Thanks for the response

There is a cam swap thread floating around here or on Triumph Rat.

Best a guy on Triumph forums has seen is 120 at the wheel, I think.

How far are you willing to go is the question.

I'm pretty sure I can get 125 at the wheel. It won't be cheap, but at the same time won't be not worth it. I own and know how to use my TIG welding machine. So I will cut the stock collector off, and add a more efficient one, and lose the catalytic converter.

I know a guy, who runs a AMA race team who can port / polish the head for basically free. Slap Daytona race cams in,dyno, and boom, hopefully 125hp.

All of that will actually happen. What the actual #'s will be, we won't know until she spins on the dyno.

The best part is, I'm not gonna tell my dyno guy anything until after the first pull :whistle:

125 would be a huge stretch, daytonas can't even make that.

For the amount of money you're going to spend, why not buy something else.

I have no idea what's gonna happen until I put it on the dyno again. And that's gonna be after next riding season. Most guys are getting 118 with regular Daytona cams. So I'm just guessing what I can get with the race cams.

Only the dyno will tell the truth.

You finished moving to NC James? I'd love some Daytona cams but don't have the know-how to self install, and don't want to pay out the ears at stealership either!

I put down 100 with the arrow 3-1 and dealer tune, on a super muggy day at Friendly Yamaha

I have dual citizenship right now until April 1. Then I'll be there full time after that. Maybe after Christmas, we can install them together?

No ****.

Ever go to bike night? I can roll down there for in a couple of weeks if you want.

So the bike went back in the shop again because of a no start.... again. It was the main engine fuse that blown. The owner before me must have did something wrong. So if it happens again, I'm replacing the wiring harness.

Now on to the good stuff.

First a little tool porn:

DeWalt 20v cordless 1/2" impact. 1,000 ft. lbs. of reversing torque. Proof:

And STM clutch in! Well almost in this pic.

Geez - Your bike is soooo clean. I was going to ask if you even ride it, but then realized, you haven't. This would be pretty laughable if not for the issue you have been dealing with. Hope it gets sorted out for you. I've been through the R/R - Stator - ignition harness short BS and understand the frustration of having a supermodel laying next to you in bed and not being able to touch her. Sucks for sure, hang in there because every time you get pissed off and then get back on you forgive all previous transgressions, lol. :smile2:
