I was thinking about hitting the drag strip to practice my launches, but I know I could ruin my clutch doing that. I have an STM slipper clutch installed by the previous owner. What spare parts should I keep on hand to refresh the clutch if I start having problems? Stock friction plates? 2012 675R.
Would this Barnett clutch kit work ok? I read here that "STM Slipper Clutches kit assembly uses original Friction Plates, Drive Plates and basket". It also talks about how diaphram springs are different than helicoil springs. Do I need to find diaphram springs?
Just in case someone else finds this thread with the same question:
The STM clutch does use the stock plates, so an OEM clutch kit will work. You can't use the springs, though. Tim at Speedmob (STM dealer) said the STM diaphram springs don't really wear out over time, so I guess there is no need to replace them along with the plates.
