I bought an older but new 13 Daytona earlier in March this year, I always send my oil out on new engines to make sure everything looks good. I unfortunately didn't get the kit in time to do it for my 600 mile change. This report shows 600-1500 miles (Bike currently has 2200 miles on it). The oil looked at was Castrol Power RS R4 4T 10W/40, the bike now uses Amsoil however.
Figured I would post this up in case anyone was interested!
They ship the kit to you for free and its 25 bucks plus shipping back to them. IMO worth every penny as oil will tell a great story about the health of the engine.
Not too much, maybe 3oz? I typically do it during an oil change in the middle of the drain. Not the beginning and not the end, while the oil is nice and warm.
Kind of hard to explain via text but essentially the comments they write are the most important. After that you would want to make sure your units elements are close to the averages. After that you should make sure the viscosity stays close to what the oil should actually be. In my case after only 1k miles, the oil sheared a lot. You would also want to make sure there is no fuel, coolant, water, and insolubles in the oil as that can be related to many issues (head gasket, rings, etc.). Hope that helps a bit!
Any info on how to read those?> Never really understood wtf it all means.
