Headed back to NCBike over the long weekend to try it out again. Last year my CPS failed after my third session, so I didn't get to really get down to laptimes on my own bike. I had fun flogging all my friend's bikes, but it's not the same.
I have a fresh motor, a dyno tune, and fresh rubber (plus a good rear take off). Here's hoping it gets me through 2 full days without a hiccup. I'm much more comfortable with my setup now too, so I can't wait to just rip laps not instructing. Woohooo! Mancation '15 here we come.

Good luck man! That's a fun track, pretty flowy and fast with only maybe 2 tight turns. Otherwise you carry a lot of speed through that whole track! Good surface too, nice and grippy, not many joists/cracks/seams at all. I did maybe 4 or 5 days there from 2014 into 2015, but I moved out west back in June, so I won't be around there any more. I didn't have a lap timer yet, so I have no idea what I was running there, but I was a 1:52-1:54 kind of guy on VIR North.
Agreed. I really enjoyed riding there despite the flatness. I loved the layout, and did collect some data. There are 3 apexes over 100mph, which makes it one of the faster tracks in the east. The straight is so long that if you stand at one end, you can't see the turn at the other. I recorded a top speed of 149 on the Daytona, which is pretty much as good as you're gonna get short of drafting at Daytona or something.
I had a best lap of 1:30 in my short time on my bike. I think I can easily knock 2 seconds off that. We shall see. I'm already frothing to ride. Is it Friday yet???
Hey, are you riding with us Mon/Tues? I am leaving friday and hoping to catch a few waves down the Jersey shore sat/sun or just chill at the beach if it's flat.
Wow, we scored a couple of awesome days at NCBike. THe place is still entertaining with so many direction changes and looooooong corners. My new motor ran great, but I struggled to get back to last year's pace. I think the linear link was causing my front end to plow into the corners and as such I destroyed the front tire before I figured it out. I eventually dropped the front end a little, and increased pre-load out back. The issue mostly went away and I got quicker, but then quickly finished off what was left of the front tire.
We ran both directions, which is fun, and I got to lap on a KTM 390, 2 R1s (stock, and tuned) and a really well sorted R6. I was fastest on the R6 with no tire roasting drama. Made me wonder how long I can stick with this 675? I love the motor. It so much sweeter than the R6, but the chassis is so finicky and it devours tires.
Yes, indeed, it would. I'm a "front end" or corner speed rider and the 675 is a bit frustrating for me. So close yet so far.
The R6 motor felt gutless and buzzy, but the chassis (not even set up for me) allowed me to ride the way I like again for the first time since getting the 675. I was a second faster average per lap in my first session on it, but the scary thing is my pace wasn't pushing the thing at all. No understeer, no oversteer (675 has both at a slower pace). I could shed several more SECONDS on the R6 if it were my own bike.
Hmmm. Too bad the thing is butt ugly compared to the 675
I heard the rumor, looked into it and found nothing. Not sure if that's legit. It would interest me as well.
