Hi guys. After a long search, I came to the conclusion that the best deal to save unsprung weight, especially on the wheels, is to install 2013+ rims on my 08 tona. Did anyone ever tried that and succeed? Seems that the rear is most problematic and that on the 2013+, the brake rotor has a 5mm offset outward, which supposes that there's only need to add x4 5mm spacers to offset the brake rotor? Am I right? Anyone could share some dimensions of 2013+ rear wheel and rotor assy? I want it soooo badly, 2013+ wheels look the tits too!
Yeah, mag or carbon ones sure are lighter, but look at the price tag, buddy! And I find that the shape of moulded wheels looks slicker than forged /machined ones.
For the fitment, seems that there's an impact on the caliper bracket too, but I don't see the reason, if the disc is at the right position after 5mm offset to the stock position.
Thank you for the precision. But caliper mount is not installable on earlier bikes swingarm I guess, they are totally different in shape!
Anyway, that's the part I don't understand. Why it would be necessary to fit these as well, if we get back the stock disc position after 5mm offset outward? Is it about the bracket hub thickness and/or position, at the wheel axle?
I'm aware of what changes were made on the bikes and swingarm in 2013. You could install a 2013 swingarm on your older bike if you really wanted, however the 2013 caliper mount seems to install fine for me when putting it on a 2008 swingarm.
Here is a 2013 complete wheel assembly mounted to the 2008 swingarm.

That's truly amazing! You guys at Riders Discount really did try everything and know well the Daytona's! You answered my questions. So if I understood well, either the complete set (with 2013+ brake caliper and bracket) needs to be fitted, with no other adjustments, or spacers for the brake rotor with stock caliper and bracket?
On the photo, why the brake caliper is grinded off?
Thanks for the details.
I saw someone on another forum who only stacked two abs pulsar ring behind the brake disc to offset it out and make it work with the stock brake setup. That would avoid change the caliper and bracket. What do you think?
It's quite defendable, and makes sense. Thank you again for your kind help and extensive feedback. I think I'll be looking soon for a full 2013+ wheel set...
Seems that the 2015 Daytona 675r wheels the lightest stock wheels ever? Can you confirm? Would be interested to see the difference with aftermarket mag wheel set, and first gens Daytona!
Really amazed to see how slim the spokes are!!
Apparently not, but I am unsure of the reason. Seems the rotor position is translated inward a bit (due to reduced wheel hub length), which implies to use spacer to offset the rotor to the stock position OR to use the 13+ brake caliper set, which shall fit the swingarm.
The 13+ are much lighter compared to 08 ones. Weight was already reduced on 09+ and more again on the 13+ due to a totally new design. Just look how much the spokes are slimmer on the 13+ ! The wheel hub as well, I think.
Just found on the forum the 09 light weight wheel set is 8.9kg already. 13+ can't be heavier. Need to check again for the 13+
