Looking good. Definitely watching to see how this turns out.

Also, I had to laugh because I took that photo of the Caspian Blue Daytona that you referenced. That was about 5 years ago when I was in San Diego.

Color change alert! We decided to go with Porsche "Man from Chile" Grey:

Unsure about the wheel color, but that will be the tank color.

Brought it into my apartment last night and got to work. Got the tail completely torn down and all side trim crap removed. Next up tonight is to drain and pull the tank, remove the tail panels, pull the airbox, and pull the brake lines.

That's going to be a beautiful bike! I'm going to vote for the triple under tail with the inserts. That would look incredible with the Porsche grey.

Bobbins arrived, so I can get it up in the air to pull the wheels, brakes, and brake lines as soon as tonight time permitting.

I gotta be honest. I'm not a fan of that color. My neighbor down the street has a Cayman painted that color and it looks worse in person. He says it hides dirt really well. But I'm pretty sure your bike will never be dirty.
Can't wait to see the finished bike.

GO CHIEFS!

Continued the tear down last night to get to all the parts that are being refinished / replaced. The only real issue I've had is one screw that holds the support bracket for the brake distribution block rounded out, but I was able to extract it this morning by slotting it and using a flathead.

Is the gauge simple to take apart? Wanted to paint the silver trim as well.

Sure is. Like 6 small philips screws on the back, then use a small flathead under one edge of the trim. Be careful when pulling it off since there's foam double-sided tape holding the trim on, but no screws or clips. Then you have to pop out the two rubber button covers.
