I agree it only puts more safe riders out on the roads that can learn the correct way to ride a motorcycle!

I always thought a better way was whatever bike you ride the motorcycle license course with is the CC size and relative weight you have to ride until you pass the test with a bigger bike.

This came to mind when I was doing my license test on a CBR600RR and this other guy was on some big Harley, clearly had no business even trying to attempt passing the test. When he was riding around all I could think was "how has he not failed yet" then the next session he was stopped due to his limit of mistakes.

Oh this also reminds me of another thing that happened, this lady was on her 3rd attempt to pass the test. The other prior two times she attempted with a 1200CC Harley that her husband bought her and she failed miserably.

Here in the state of MN you can ride anything over I think 125CC for the test, anyway this lady took her 3rd time on a 125CC moped. She did alright through most of the course and then she was on the 2nd to last part which was the quick acceleration to a dead stop in a certain amount of feet.

She starts accelerating, panics and then slams on the front brake, locks up the front tire and it's chattering like mad and smoking from dragging the tire. She lets off the brake bounces side to side like 4 times and got lucky enough to make it to the grass before she went down.

Clearly her husband needs to take that harley and sell it, buy her a really fancy mountain bike with training wheels and put some cards in the spokes for added sound effects lol

Most of the world has a stepped license system with the USA being of the minority that doesn't. Regarding being able to test on any size motorcycle. It gets worse then that. In most states you can take your "motorcycle" test on a scooter or even worse a trike or a Can-Am Spyder (damn tricycles).

You can take it on a can am? Now that's ridiculous! That should only be allowed if you are handicapped.

Some states have a separate side-car/"tricycle" endorsement but for those states that don't have a separate endorsement they have to allow it since the Can-Am under federal law is not a car since it has 3 wheels. By default it gets put under a motorcycle classification even though it's not one.

This is an official advertisement for Can-Am they mention the endorsement about half way through.

Woooooooooow..........those can am's are garbage too! When I was working at a motorsports shop I can't even remember how many of those things came back and every single one of them had different issues.

In fact a brand new one that they sold to a customer, the brakes were already noisy as if they were old......who knows maybe it was just a little bit of surface rust or something but still.

agreed! though I wouldn't shit a brick if something like this was to happen. my bike is in compliance with the law and it would nice to see more bikes be able to follow suit. Esp the Harleys running straight pipes and sportbikes with gp cans.

I do wish more cops would crack down on cars with stupid loud exhausts.
