was wondering why this was brought up on the site?....

If you own a ride with a plastic tank it is indeed just a matter or when you will have an issue.. Ethanol is not even remotely good for the plastic tanks.
Thankfully my 1098 has not had an issue, but i make sure no ethanol fuel goes into the bike.

Try not to be elitist. It's unbecoming for a motorcyclist....

I traded in a Ducati Multistrada with this ethanol related issue for my steel-tanked Street Triple. There's no issue with the steel tank.

I bought the girl friend a 2010 monster and already on the second tank. Huge gas leak that stank up the whole house from the garage. That would be the third time the monster has been in the shop for warranty.

Sounds like the weight savings isn't even remotely close to the disadvantages.
