Hey guys I'm from the lower region part of texas. "The Valley" like 30min away from SouthPadre Island. Down here there no sorta track or etc besides some terrible curves with potholes. What would be the closest one to me? I been wanting to get myself a 1 piece suit, boots, new helmet and etc to have some trackday fun.
So where is the closest one to me nd what kinda things what I need to go. Thanks. |

Your closest track will probably be Motor Sport Ranch in Houston. That's a pretty fun track. Other than that one, probably Harry Hills in San Marcus with elite track days or COTA but that won't be open to amateurs probably until 2014.

HHR is in San Marcos. I think you go through Elite Track Days, iirc.

You don't need a license, I would recommend signing up with RideSmart. They have a great system where you will learn a lot and really enjoy a day at the track. As for anything else to prepare you for that day, you should do a forum search, there is already plenty of threads for that. I will be posting up ridesmart's 2013 schedule pretty soon. FYI- I don't work for them but two of the members of my racing team are Ridesmart structors.
