SO I never thought about getting aftermarket FLUX plates in order to drop my bike about 1 inch or so so I can be more confident and comfy at the same time. Anyone here use the FLUX plates to lower the bike at all ? WOuld the plates be a better idea then the lowering link? Or even better could I just have my sag adjusted to be a little softer so when i sit on the bike its a little lower? I know that adjusting the sag can affect handling though.....THOUGHTS?

I use [FLUX] mk2 plates and a modified 675R shock on a Triumph Street Triple. It has lowered the bike, which is nice and it steers well. I have also made changes to the front with a set Daytona '06 forks and Ohlins 30mm cartridges.
If you haven't tried your adjusters yet, you should start with that. Basically note down where you are now, make a change in the direction you wanna go, note your impressions, make another change, note down your impressions... Basically this is just a little work and you haven't thrown money in all kinds of directions. You also get to know more about your bike and adjustments and their effect. Based on this excercise you might find a setting you like and you will be better qualified to make your next purchase. |

But to get a little more specific, then removing preload from the spring will lower the bike, but it will also have a bad effect on the linkage progression, so jolts are felt more. This is why I use the [FLUX] mk2 plates as they make the linkage less progressive as well as lower the rear.
I still think you should try to adjust your adjusters and see how they affect the bike, handling and comfort. |
