My local Triumph dealer usually has to order what I want in, but they are pretty competitive with their pricing and shipping times are about what I would expect from online sites. It also helps to have a bit of a relationship when you need things worked on.

Problem with my local place is lack of selection and double the price of online. I can usually buy from within Canada for cheaper than from US but only because shipping is cheaper.
I don't blame the dealers here for higher prices, they are getting ripped off too. Why is it that I can buy items from RD or STG for less than a local dealer's cost? RD and the like are making profit so why is their cost on items so much cheaper than a local dealer's cost? Doesn't make sense. Some manufacturers just gouge Canadian (and other international) dealers.

Example: Shoei tinted visor locally is about $60, Canada online is about $55, Online from USA is under $48. Shoei is a Japanese company, products made and shipped from Japan to the rest of the world. The Canadian/American dollar have floated around par for the past 10 years. Why are their products wholesale price cheaper in the states?

Depends on how quickly I need it. If I can wait a while, I usually try to go to a local shop to try things on for size. Then I order the same thing from TJ at RD or Jason from STG for MUCH cheaper (even with shipping included). Don't worry, I still buy things from the local shops if it's something I need immediately before a track day or something like that where I can't wait for shipping.

I watch videos on revzilla, but i buy in the stores. If the price is WAY off, (depends on how expensive the item is), i'll ask them to maybe give me a discount, and i buy from them.

I usually buy from SPTG but since being more active here and seeing that riders discount has even better prices I'll most likely go with them from now on. I will buy fluids and minor stuff at cycle gear but around here there aren't many options that are remotely close to reasonable prices. Plus most stores here have no selection.
