thats what i meant about take it to a tyre shop for a plug not the little get you home ones, they use a mushroom plug from the inside that plugs the hole & is also a patch with vulcanising glue & i trust the bloke who runs my local tyre shop when he says it will be fine

If you really wanted to save money, you'd have removed the rear wheel and just taken that to the shop. Saves on your labor cost.
