Have any of you guys had any luck convincing a dealership to order you the upgraded parts and just give them to you to let you install them yourself? I know the nearest dealership back home in Illinois where the bike is is probably about 2.5-3 hours away, I'd hate to haul the bike that far, and its to cold to ride it right now

Its worth a try, but I'm not to sure about that, ask and c if they have any partnerships with local diffrent brand dealers that can verify what's needed, if ur talking warranty stuff. Never hurts to ask. That's one thing ill be missing when I get over there, proximity to a dealer.

i was able to at the local dealer. showed the ownership so they could check the recall. they gave it to me and i installed it myself.
