Ya I will make sure to tell him to do a good check out before handing over the $$. Comparing VIN's is another important thing to check out.

One thing that does make me feel better, the guy claimed that Brad Stokes of Ohlins revalved the forks on the bike. I called Brad (who was surprisingly easy to get ahold of) and he confirmed the work was done. Said he knew the seller and he is a reputable guy.

The OEMs even do this.
Huh... I thought I learned they were different years ago. I WAS THE WRONG ONE.

I know the owner and this is a legitimate R. I'm kinda pissed that he didn't call me as I only live 1 mile from him and I've been looking for an R. Good buy!

No you got it. 2009+ Daytonas have different velocity stacks. They are also the same ones on the new 2013 Daytona.

For those worried about the Ohlins forks in a crash, you can purchased the fork bottoms from Ohlins. Maybe $300 each, something like that.

Overall, they are a beefier fork and should hold up better than the stock forks. But still, they have their limits like everything else.

If you're serious about a 675R for track use, ALWAYS buy used. Just pushing that thing off the showroom floor saves you two grand. Find someone who's knocked one over, save another two grand.

I know people like to start off with a factory fresh race bike, but man, that's a lot of depreciation $$$.

^^ Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I think I saved somewhere around $4K vs. out the door pricing on a new one. (At least in my area)
