Guys thanks for all the advice - it's unanimous - all in favor of the D675.

No complaints from anyone about the ergos?

I had an awesome year and my wife is pushing me to get something that will make me happy - 2013 Datona R it is!

ergos? You are racing not cruising on a Harley lol

If need be get different rearsets, but other than that haul ass and take names.

Definitely get the Daytona for the track. That's what I've done.

As for the ergos? You never sit still for long enough for it to become a problem. Shifting your weight from right to left in the corners, flat on tank down the straights. That said sometimes my quads will ache after a three day track day. My neck is the thing that usually suffers due to the lying flat on the tank and craning my neck up to see.

If you use a street bike (STR) on the track you will probably find your wrists aching from hanging off and you wrists being bent at an awkward angle. That's what happens to me anyway. Plus on a STR you won't get the same confidence in the front end that you will with a Daytona.

Just buy the cheapest you can. I got a 2006 model last year for my track bike. You wont notice the difference between that and a newer one. Once you get quicker then spend your money on suspension upgrades. The fork springs tend to be far too hard and the shock certainly is.

Forget engine performance upgrades. If you want to go faster then improving the handling is top of the list. This is because you get more confidence in the bike. If you have confidence in the bike, you go faster. Doubtless someone will disagree with me, but they'll be wrong!

This is true. If you're just doing track days, the power doesn't matter one bit. Many a liter bike have seen me blow by, and when I was new, many SV650's blew by me. Unless you're racing and battling for a top spot where a fee tenths might matter don't waste your money on hp upgrades.
