Cool Alternatives to bike covers?

What do you guys/gals, without a garage like myself, use to protect your bike from the elements? I have a cover, but have noticed that my tail fairing is getting rubbed by the cover ever so slightly (leaving a light mark). I don't think it has made it through the clear coat, so I should be able to buff it out.

With that said, I was curious if anyone out there uses something aside from a bike cover for storage. I was contemplating buying some PVC and creating a frame to serve as a sort of "shell". Perhaps using waterproof canvas or corrugated plastic/metal around the shell. It would be somewhat light/movable (castors maybe?) and my thought is that I would park the bike and move this shell around it.

I am just in the conception phase right now, so please let me know if anything like this exists or any thoughts you have on the topic. Think of it like a somewhat mobile mini motorcycle garage :P

Note that I do have access to a garage, but not at my house, and am trying not to have to drive to get my bike.
