I bought the 675r because of the track... Why buy a supersport bike with ohlins suspension for the street.. LAME!

Id rather have a 2000 dollar street bike and 15000 track bike

Most insurance companies, cars or motorcycles, do not cover track use or racing. In some cases things can pass for 'rider education' or 'driver education'. It's not just progressive - its that way with just about every carrier.

From the Progressive policy

Coverage under this part IV will not apply for loss:
to any vehicle resulting from, or sustained during practice or preparation for:
a. any pre-arranged or organized:
(i)
racing;
(ii)
stunting;
(
iii) speed or demolition contest or activity; or
16
b. any riding activity conducted on a permanent or temporary racetrack, racecourse, or during any closed course event.
This
exclusion does not apply to use of a motorcycle for escorting participants in charitable racing events;

And according to how it reads, anything on a racetrack is excluded (at least with my Oklahoma Progressive policy). Even if your agent tells you he thinks its covered, READ YOUR POLICY. Agents often don't know what the policy does or doesn't cover and they just want to sell you a policy.

It happens, but do not worry about it. Crashing is all part of the game we play. Either on the street, or the track. I have never seen anyone talking on their cell phone on the track. I'm only trying to make the statement that the track is more safe than the street.

Speed only depends on skill level either on the street, or the track. Even the best at this game will, and have wrecked. Don't ever fear it, just respect it, and you will have a hell of a time no matter what the outcome.

Do I regret the mistake I made? Sure, but I don't regret being on the track. I learned a few very valuable lessons every time I make a mistake like this, and I won't repeat it thus making me a faster and also stronger rider.

Even after my most recent crash where I proceeded to tumble wildly and sprain my ankle, my reaction is a firm "I ain't even mad." Yeah, it sucks, but it's part of the game and when you push yourself sometimes it happens. I still wouldn't trade it for anything.

well....... i got bad news for you buddy, you will drop/crash your bike, especially if you track it (slipper is the least of your problems)..... good news is that they made more than one.


you can watch millions of hours of track sessions and or wrecks on youtube, take courses, talk to people who went down etc but the fact is we will all wreck at some point. things happen in a split second and a lot of those things are outside your control like other riders, gravel, potholes, slick spots, etc. Wear ATGATT, get some sliders for the bike and ENJOY YOUR BIKE! Stop worrying about a few scratches.

^ This. My wife is an insurance adjustor. She gets people in the office EVERYDAY who say "my agent said it would be covered!" well..... go ask him to write you a check because your policy says right here that it is not covered.

I pay $250 more a year than Progressive, but they value the motorcycle at $22,000 instead of market rate. Full coverage on the bike up to $22K and full coverage for property damage to $100k, personal injury (including life flight) to $100k, and bodily harm to $100k.

More importantly, my bike is now insured on the track as it wasn't before.

I can't say your rate will be the same because I don't know if our age and driving record are the same, but a phone call doesn't hurt especially if you ever track your bike.

Shopped around for new insurance a few months ago. I sat there with the agent and had her call underwriters from every insurance company I was looking at to see if they covered track days, aka "closed circuit training", aka non timed events, etc...

Bottom line, if you live in NY Foremost is the only one that covers track days, and their rates for me are pretty high.
