So I have decided to see the country on my 675R (well the states around Ohio at least). I have bought some heli-bars, some Pilot 2's, a bigger windscreen, gel seat.... I think that is it. My question refers to the suspension. I have my bike set up now for me with my track gear on. Is it feasible to ride down to my local dealer with my touring luggage loaded up and have them set me up for touring in such a manner that I know how to get back to my original settings? I ultimately want to know the difference between the two so I can switch back and forth. Would the suspension stay consistent enough to be able to do this? Or will I have to go through the entire process of measuring, adjusting etc?
Thanks AB

Sure. If you don't know what the settings are now, simply close each adjuster one at a time counting clicks, then put it back and write down those settings. Once you get it reset to what you want for touring gear pay attention to the click difference and do the same. Really, it will probably only be a click or two either way. And if you are touring you'll want it on the softer side anyway.

I have toured a little bit on my 675r and find that with the added luggage I carry it in itself with a tank bag make the bike ride softer and works well with track settings. I figure I carry an extra 40-50 lbs when loaded for touring. It was quite a pleasant surprise to me. You may find the same.
Have fun, Mark

It should be doable just by couting how many clicks on the adjustments are made. I imagine the preload will change also so count how many turns were put back in for the touring.

I did a trip from Vancouver BC down to North Cali and back this summer, with a very similar setup. Two things you don't have listed but helped ALOT where putting on dirt bike rubber grips, and getting a cheap little throttle lock. Made a world of difference.

There are plenty of us that have toured with our bikes. I swapped my stock spring back in for my really big trip with about 50-60lbs of gear on the back

Awesome tip on the grips. I actually ordered a throttle lock but forgot about it (I am in Afghanistan at the moment and have been ordering parts while I am here). Last summer I did the throttle tube mod. I may switch it back to the stock one for touring though. Not sure yet. I was also thing about getting an Airhawk pad in case by bum starts screaming.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions on setting my suspension up. AB

What's the furthest you've ridden in one day, so far?
I love to hear about people that enjoy actually riding their bikes. Have fun!

check out my ride report on loading and preparing a bike. Also check out www.thecycleguys.com for a very simple yet effective throttle lock and it only costs around $25.00
Also figure what is the difference in having a passenger vs having bags. I also installed a power outlet port for my gps and also my cell phone. So that way I don't drain either one. Picking up a sena bluetooth head set will make a huge help. answer calls, music and even to your gps. My triumph touring bags have around 15,000 miles on them and still going strong.
