Looking to pickup a 2006-2008 Daytona. I LOVE twisty roads with elevation changes. Favorite road is Mulhuland Drive in California. I will also do occasional track days. I want to be stable and planted while in full lean and possibly dealing with uneven roads.
I want the BEST without going to the extreme like some $5000 race track setup. Would like to stay under $2000 for full suspension setup. Thanks! |

You can get used fork cartridges and a shock if you watch the fs section like a hawk. The fork cartridges you can get new, in a couple price options too. California has some great suspension guys though, take advantage of them either way. Even with stock components, they can use springs and valving etc to get it well sorted even with stock components. If your not going to bother changing your tires and setup between the road and track, the stock components should be fine at first unless you want more for the sake of more (fk yeah!).

I've had no trouble carving with the stock suspension setup and settings. I weigh 165 + gear. For the average 160ish rider, most stock suspension settings are great right from the factory.
I would get a friend and make sure your sag is right, and the back end tends to be a little soft. Example... my 2012 CBR 1000RR was perfectly set up right off the showroom floor. Same goes for my 2012 Daytona 675R. My 2007 Daytona 675 was also magnificently and conveniently properly tuned for my weight.
