I haven't had the chance to look closely yet. I'll post a video later.
I'm not much familiar with newer bikes, hell i was confused when the bike would shut off when i threw the kick stand down haha. Use to my old 1980... My question is, is it a safety precaution built in, if it is low on oil, or needs an oil change, to not start? I'll do some checks when I get home tonight. Thanks D675 community!

What year is the bike? and have you had the R/R recall done? and what was the oil level like? Depending on your year it was shown that the 1st gens came with a longer dipstick which would equate to less oil compared to the later gens which came with shorter dipsticks. Hope that made sense.

I took my bike in to the dealer for the R/R recall and they told me my oil wasn't even reading on the Dip Stick. I have an 06' and it still ran.

It is a 2008, and no I have not (as far as I know). I don't know how to go about it. Bought the bike in April of this year.
I also had a dead battery issue maybe 3-4 months back. Replaced it with a new light weight 1 and ran perfectly until today. |

Well the dealer is replacing them at no cost so you should definitely check it out if you have not done so. Most of the time its the R/R, but it could also be the stator as well. Here are some threads you should check out when you evaluate your bike:

Sigh... this is why I bought a new bike. So I would feel confident it would start each morning.
I have noticed the gauge lights having a light flicker, from what I remember reading this accompanies the R/R issues? Nearest dealer is about 1.5 hours away. Fantastic. Wonder if I just mail the unit to them, if they'll change out the wiring... |

I have had the exact same problem when the battery is low on voltage. Charge the battery with a trickle charger and try again maybe? It scares me a bit but I cannot even boost my bike off a car if the battery dies...I must use the trickle charger. These ecus/fuel systems are super picky.

If you dont want to go to the dealer you can always order one from Ridersdiscount, I purchased mine before the recall. My battery kept dying and I went through 2 batteries before I figured it was the R/R. You could try and ask the dealer for any options. But read over the threads and check all the obvious things before you got with the R/R, stator, etc. Very easy to switch out, takes 15-20 minutes even if your not mechanically inclined.
