I believe most of us are getting about 43-45 mpg on average. 89 octane is fine, don't bother with a higher rating unless you've messed with the tune. Double-check your tire pressures and chain slack.

My Daytona got terrible milage until probably about 600 miles in, and then started to sip gas so long as I ws gentle with the wrist, but with the colder weather has started to go down again. As for the temperature gauge, mine sits at 5, will go up to 6 sometimes in traffic and during more spirited runs, and have had it up to 7 waiting for an accident to be cleared so temps are a non-issue for you, plus my milage tends to get better with the higher temps.

My tire pressure reads 38 for the rear and 32 for the front, a little low on each. I'll check the slack tonight.

One thing, sounds like you don't fill the tank up enough. You should be able to fill the tank up with a whole gallon more than what you are doing. Should be about 3.6 or so when the light comes on. Manually fill up the tank and look at the owner's manual to see a picture of how much to fill it. You pretty much go to just under the opening.

Also, she does tend to do a bit better after break in. After 500 or so mi, I started to see better mpg. In my commute to work, which is mostly around town riding with about 7 mi of highway out of 20 total, I get about 37 mpg. With only highway I get around 44.

i would guess you're low on coolant, pull the seat & check the bottle. it can be hard to see.

as for fuelling, you have to fill it sitting on the bike and hold the rubber boot on the gas pump back so you can see the fuel inside the tank. fill it to the bottom of the neck on the tank, lock the cap, good to go.

i've filled 4.25 gallons before on mine......yeah i was on fumes.

but i like the low fuel power wheelies!!
