Hey guys, I recently dumped my 675 rounding a curve & hit wet leaves & mud. The gas tank is completely crushed in with a hole punctured in it & the frame might be nicked, not sure. If my insurance company decides to total the bike (it's financed), what are my options? I want to keep the bike or get a new bike.

I'm sure your insurance company can explain your options to you, as every insurance company is different.
But they'll either fix it or total it, depending on the damage. If they fix it - woo! You have your bike back....and maybe higher insurance bills in the future. If they total it, then depending on your insurance, they may allow you to buy it back as a salvaged title for cheap and still give you a decent size check. Then you can fix it yourself, probably for cheaper, and use the extra money to buy new gear to replace the stuff you damaged in the fall (or to buy gear in the first place if you were dumb enough to ride without it). Either way - woo! You have your bike back. If they don't allow you to buy back the salvaged title, they'll just give you a check, and you can go buy a new bike. Also, your insurance bills might go up in the future as well. Either way, call your insurance, they can tell you more than we can.

Thanks for the info...I'm hoping I'll be able to get my exhaust off if they do total it. I paid a lot of $ for it!!

+1 remove every thing you want and put the stock stuff back on it before you make a claim. You may never see it again, and it might help you let it go, and just buy a new bike if they total it.

dammit...the bike isnt in my posession, the ins company is bringing it to the deaership because it was in an impound lot while i went to the hospital. I don't believe the adjuster went out to look at it yet. I wonder if I can maybe talk to the guys at the dealership & see if they can sneak the stock back on

Couldn't hurt to try. At least get them to tell you if it's a total or not. Talking to them can't hurt. Sometimes you can ask for the claim to only include certain parts, and not the plastics.

Look at it this way, if they total it, get a 675R! But I can tell you, your insurance will go up significantly. Mine tripled after I totaled my CBR600RR. Went from $36/month to $104/month.
