Got a second opinion, and apparently using feeler gauges is not my forte. valves are fine.
so....I did something else.
made a bracket for the manual idle

Installed APE CCT and manual idle

LSL clutch slider....got a good deal on it from Solanki

painted the exhaust heat shield, cover and cap black

Oops forgot about the pics. They'll have to wait. I was gonna shim the valves, then a long time friend showed up and wanted to ride. So I got the bike all back in one piece and went for a ride. nothing crazy. so now that I am gonna do the valves now, bike is in bits.

Decided to do a couple of things.

Homemade block off plates anyone?

Rough cut with sawzall, angle grinder to shape, flappy disc to near final shape and a little bit of sandpaper thrown in there.

Done and prepped for paint

Plates sitting on sanded valve cover

should be painting tomorrow
