Umm, a simple call to head office can fix that, mine was in and out in a day after being told it would be a week. By law manufacturers have to keep a certain stock level of parts etc etc, that and there's prolly been a run on them off late by the sound of it.

For all I know the dealer was told to pull one out of a new bike.

and funny enough my battery died over the weekend too.

but I was very sick and not thinking straight, hang on that's everyday.

It's happened twice to me, on two different 675's. Peter Stevens, the local Triumph importer, deny that it's an issue and refuse to keep any stock of R/R's.

Replacing it is a 10-30minute job, depending on tools.

If you want one sooner, and a better one than what Triumph provide, go here:

Can I ask what year model is your 675? I see you mentioned that you got it July 09, but was it a new 09?

From what I have read here on this forum, seems that the R/R is more a problem with the 06 and 07 model, with the 08 seemingly better. Not sure about the 09 yet. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

Hi Gavin,
Yep is a 09 model. I read that they changed the location of the reg/rec to the right front fairing and confirmed it by pulling off the right hand plastic inlay. Triumph said that moving the reg/rec to a cooler place would fix the prob but obviously they haven't.

Sad to say this hasn't been fixed in the 2010 model ST3R, mine died at the traffic lights today.
BikeBiz Granville sent a pickup vehicle, but it looks like about 2 weeks wait because of warranty claim!? They said they have had a few recently.
I'll stay on the phone and keep harassing them, good on them because they gave me a bike to get home (kawa clunker 650), but I need to take it back sat.

Im not liking the horror stories regarding parts availabilities. :\

mine turned out to be a ratshit battery so thankfully not what I thought it was.

Was me who blew a fuse, everything was fine obviously was just not enough to charge crank it over

Do yourself a favor and buy one of the speedcell batteries, then 2-row ones. I have one on my street-fighter 675 and have been using it for a year now. Not one single problem. It cranks the bike WAY better than the stock battery that I have in the other 675. Push the starter with the speedcell, and it cranks with a rapid sharpness and fires almost instantly. Do it on the standard battery bike and you can hear that it cranks with a slow chugging noise, like it's really struggling to turn the engine properly.

I should post up a video of it I guess.

The speedcell batteries are SO good, and weigh 1/5th as much, it really makes you wonder why they're not a whole lot more popular. Yes, they do cost 3x as much, but you've gotta imagine that with greater economies of scale that this price would come down if they were adopted by more manufacturers.
