D.I.Y. Street Triple Fenderectomy

This "How to" was an afterthought and I didn't start taking pic's until I was more or less done so my appologies if my pic's/description isn't clear. You will also need to determine ahead of time what you are going to do for rear turn indicators. There are several options. Intergrated turn signals in the brake light , or get a license plate with leds in it. I've decided to try the latter and have ordered a Kisan sequential motorcycle license plate http://www.bikerhiway.com/kisan-vectralight-motorcycle-license-plate-frame-p-81.html.

Start by removing the seat, side covers and tail light finisher (items #1, #2 & #4 http://www.bikebandit.com/2012-triumph-street-triple/o/m154263#sch740215 ), then removed the four bolts (#4) that secure the main license plate bracket (#9) http://www.bikebandit.com/2012-triumph-street-triple/o/m154263#sch740214. Remove the bracket. To do so, you will need to unplug the wiring going to the following items:

License plate light
Turn signals
Air tempature sensor

Next put some tape across what I call the "duck tail" portion of the rear fender. The tape provides a straight edge along the section you will want to remove.

What the fender should look like sans the "duck tail"

As you can see in the last pic, I had already removed the red reflector. To do this, simply push on the inner part of the two nubs(see the part where the pen is pointing to in the pic below). The two inserts will remain in the fender and can be pushed out once the reflector is removed.

Next, remove the license plate mounting bracket and use two of the three bolts that secured the bracket to its original location. With the bolts installed in the bracket as shown, the bolts will mount the bracket to the fender using the two holes that the reflector mounted to.

At this point you can reinstall the tail light finisher (#4). Test fit the moulded undertray piece (#16 http://www.bikebandit.com/2012-triumph-street-triple/o/m154263#sch740214). You will likely need to trim the end of this piece to make it line up correctly with the tail light finisher. Once it lines up correctly, find a bolt that is 1/4" or so longer than the bolt that originally secured the undertray piece to the tail light finisher. You will also need a nut to thread onto the end of the bolt. The reason for this is you are going to mount the air temp sensor that was mounted on the main bracket frame inbetween the undertray and the tail light finisher. (Sorry for the poor pic)

You can now reattach the wires to the air temp sensor and wire the rear turn signals to your method of choice as described above. Reinstall the side covers, seat and enjoy!
