So I just moved to Vegas, and the insurance premium is 1000 bucks more than what I paid in Illinois. 1000 thats ridiculous. I paid 580/yr back there, including collision with $500 deductible. Here its 1600/yr with same coverage. If i dont take collision, which I can do, it will cost me 600, so basically same price as before. Do you guys think I should go ahead and pay a ridiculous 1000 more for collision or just take the risk and keep my insurance at reasonable price? Just to clarify, not having collision means physical damage to my bike will not be covered if I crash or am responsible for an accident. Just wondering what your guys' opinions are on this matter.

So whats up guys I haven't been on in a while. I've recently decided to start doing my own services on my bike because I am sick of paying $300.00 for an oil change and a chain cleaning. Is it just me or does that seem high? The salesman at the dealership says he gives me a deal but I'm not to sure about that. Well anyways just curious what kind of oil I should use? Any suggestions are welcomed. Oh and do I have to replace the oil filter? Mines only been on there for 5k miles the guy at the dealership says they can last 10k but I might change it just for good measure. Thanks a bunch guys. How often should the air filter be cleaned? Should I be worried if my bike is running hot? I mean my fan is always going? It won't seem to shut off even if the bike was just started. Should I just take it out?

Hello there,

I'd like to have some feedback from fellow Daytona riders on the not-that-new-anymore Michelin Power Pure.

I spoke with a friend of mine who put those things on a BMW R1330S and wasn't happy at all, but the BMW is obviously nothing like the Triumph...

I'm, more specifically, concerned about the durability and the behaviour of the tires on wet road, but I'd like to know how it feels in good conditions too.

I ran a few searchs on the forum search engine, but I only found an old thread saying nothing really interesting about the tire itself (wich was quite astonishing to me) so I figured I should start this thread, hoping that this absence of thread isn't a metaphorical way of saying "this tire sucks so much we behave like it doesn't exist at all" :)

Thanks,

SJ

So i decided mid afternoon today i wanted to go out for a ride and hit the moutains for a bit, since the weather was perfect and didnt feel like doing anything else today. I have been wanting to commit my bike full time to the track, but was kind of waiting til i had another toy in its place, probably a supermoto or something.

Anyway, i made my first run up blood moutain, the place was pretty much empty except for a few other motorcyclists heading back down the mountain heading home. so i usually make a dry run when im by myself to check for the stray gravel spot or spot cops and such. I went to my spot where i turn around run back up and down the mountain. started making my way back down, and State Patrol got me, i saw him from some distance hiding behind some tall brush, he wasnt there on my first pass, so i grapped a handful of brakes to slow but he was already pulling out. i know i was speeding, so i dont argue and just take it as it is. 57 in a 35, i was lucky he got me at that because i was going faster than that before i saw him. i take my ticket, share small talk with him, and im on my way. after that im kind done for the day, didnt really want to run the moutain expecting him to pop out somehwere else. so i start making my way home, head down the mountain, onto some backroads. i start iding a little agressive, nothing stupid though, im on the trumpet, how can i not? i come up onto another group of motorcycles riding sort of spirited until we get stuck behind a car. its a one lane, and we come up on a passing zone, and they wave me by, as well as the car. so i pass and continue on. next thing i know i see one of the riders pass the car and run to catch up to me. i hit a few turns and dont really see him anymore until another long straight. and he accellerates again hard to catch up. meanwhile i am maintaining a regular speed. yes im speeding, but not radically. i come up on a jeep and he pulls off to the side to wave me by. we hit the last of the turns on this road and i dont see the other biker anymore, and its all straights from there out. i dont speed in the straights, no point really, plus i came up on another group of cars and there was no point in passing them. im going the same speed as the cars, and all of a sudden a trooper taking radar on the side of the road pulls out after me and pops the blues on. i pull over saying in my head WTF? he gets out and says hang on a second, a trooper who SAW you speeding is on his way. i wait for about 2 minutes and all of a sudden i have 3 troopers behind me, and the other biker. the cop who SAW me comes up to me right away giving me the scare tactics, "you ever been to jail before for wreckless driving?" etc. i ask him where was i being wreckless? hes looking at my tires, my license plate, knee pucks, sayin the evidence is all over. i asked him where he was sitting and he said he was following the group when he saw me pull away. i honestly had no clue he was back there. he takes my license and keeps giving me the tactics, telling the other cops, you guys want to take him to jail for wreckless driving ill back you up on it, etc etc.
he comes back giving me the, im going to cut you a break today, and wrote me a ticket for my license plate, which is the competition works kit. and also for TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS. thats what it says on the ticket. what the F is that? it was beautiful outside? i didnt see him behind me supposedly chasing to catch up, how could he see me? he said he hit 85- 90 mph trying to catch me. its not open roads, its mountains and hills and trees etc. you cant see anything around the corner, let alone the next corner or down the road.

anyway. i am not badgering the cops, they do what they do, and for the most part when ive been stopped and given warnings the cops are usually riders themselves and we always have small talk etc. i know cops deal with idiots all day and if i were in their shoes, i would be an asshole too. i am not ranting on them.

the moral of the story for me is im done dealing with the BS that comes with trying to have a fun ride, and am dedicating my bike 100 % to the track. going to let her do what she was designed to do.

sorry for the long bitching. just had to get it out there.

I'll start out by saying that I'm never going riding on holiday weekend ever again, eff that nonsense. Some friends and I went up to to Mt. Palomar...

I'll start out by saying that I'm never going riding on holiday weekend ever again, eff that nonsense. Some friends and I went up to to Mt. Palomar (best ride in socal) for a nice laided back ride, but it didn't turn out that way. As soon as we got to the base it became obvious that the place was crawling with cops. there were "head taps" and pissed off dudes in full leathers greeting us along the way up. So the front way up the mountain was a complete waste of time, Oh and I forgot to mention that it was 101 degrees out today. The ride back down the east side of the mountain was actually pretty decent because everyone had already said fuck it and went home.

On the way back to San Diego the three of got pulled over and ticketed outside of Julian for doing 80mph in 55 on a road that was COMPLETELY empty (minus the CHP truck hiding in the bushes). So while the cop was sitting in his nice air conditioned truck writing us three separate tickets we sat outside in the 101 degree heat in pretty much full gear for 45 minutes, apparently thats how long it takes to write 3 tickets.

Anyway, When I got home I noticed that the inside of my legs literally got burnt by my gas tank/frame. WTF? Has this ever happened to anyone else? That's never even happened on my air cooled Buell. Oh well, I realize that this is 3 paragraph of inane rambling and bitching but some times bitching feels good.

Seriously time to get to the track... Oh wait, now I have $400 ticket to pay so I can't afford to go to the track. Sweet.....:notamused:

Back story - I bought some colorite.com paint for my graphite 06 D675 in a rattle can and there clear. I'm doing the right side fairing and trying to save the graphic as I just bought it so I taped it off. I got a little bit of overspray on the T and wiped it off but the yellow or gold came with it.

I need to know ASAP what that color is so I can run to the murrays and get some touch up paint to make it look decent. I know it'll look like crap but I'm replacing the whole panel anyways as soon as I find one for a decent price.
Any suggestions?
